It's Been a Minute

The world has changed since 2022. It's been a long road and a good time investment staying acquinted with all the new developments and issues in the technology space, especially in my local community.

Hi, all! It's David, here. Last time we tuned in, it was a very different scene. AI datacenters were squarely to blame for the shenanigans surrounding the GPU shortage, England still had a Queen, Etherium pivoted to proof-of-stake, and Windows 10 was still a thing.

The world continues to evolve, and with it, the needs of both entrepreneurs and consumers.

A lot of life has happened for me personally. I moved (twice), bought a home, got engaged, all rightfully very expensive things, money and time-wise. Focus needed to be directed off of this passion of mine, but (you can ask the better half) I never forgot about what Ashlar Computer could be or what had already been done for so many customers up to that point.

I reached a point where I knew I could responsibly invest some of my time out of the office back into my pursuit of my passion for technolgy made the next step a pretty clear one. It was time to dust off Ashlar and forge it anew (as Narsil into Anduril), this time, bringing a few extra years of industry knowledge, refined skills, business acumen, and a deeper desire to serve informed consumers and the community's most entrepreneuring minds.

I am absolutely elated to call myself a small business owner once again, and help grow others and play even a small part in getting others' passion projects realized. While we're soft launching this month (November 2025 at the time of writing), come January 2026, we'll be in full swing. Let there be no mistake-- None of this would be possible if not for the incessant encouragement, love, and support from my friends, family, and even past customers. Ashlar Computer & Consulting, as its predecessor was, is a product of communicated need, and we're back to serve in the next chapter of our story.

What's Changed?

The formula has changed (as has our target market). While I won't be configuring build-to-order computers anymore (holding an inventory is risky business in tech), I will still be working with customers to realize their purpose-built systems from a very exclusive line of manufacturers. That will not change.

Instead of focusing only on the computer portion of the business, I've pivoted the company to serve small businesses and individuals in terms of improving and producing a superior online presence-- that's website design, eCommerce, social media integration-- but marketing it to the community as a wholistic managed service that grows with you.. There's an elegance in being someone's trusted fire-and-forget missle when it comes to the bread and butter of how they interact with their own communities and clients, and that's the real human part of being in this (or any other) industry. That's where I aim to win in this next chapter.

The Next Chapter...

Moving into 2026 and beyond, expect a lot more from our site. I want to create a more interactive and informative experience whenever something major happens in the technology space-- elicit feedback and reactions from the community. Dialogue seems to be a dying art these days...and there is more to talk about every day!

The services Ashlar Computer & Consulting offers may change a little bit from time to time, but the new foundation is established, and everything will begin with a free consultation. The projects I want to work with customers on are coming from a need and vision; a story. Project-based work is a lot different than traditional BTO storefront work, and frankly, just more fulfilling to me.

As always, I am sincerely looking forward to building more exposure of this little hobby-turned-business stretches its legs once more.

In the next chapter, we're getting back to work, Tampa Bay!
